Transformation

From its inception, Kalagadi Manganese has been an agent of transformation. Founded by women entrepreneurs in 2001, Kalagadi has deliberately sought to recruit women into positions that are otherwise male-dominated positions throughout the industry.

Our Enterprise Support Development strategy supports the preferential procurement and supplier development series 100 and 400 of the BEE codes of good practice and the mining charter. We strive to empower previously disenfranchised businesses particularly women-owned businesses.

Our Executive Chairperson, Ms Daphne Mashile-Nkosi , has received many awards and honours in recognition of our company pioneering role in women’s empowerment. These include the 2019 “The Bring Her Up: Women of Firsts Awards for Business” by the Charlotte Mannya-Maxeke Institute in Collaboration with UNISA College of Graduate Studies Institute for African Renaissance Studies and the 2019 Industrious African Woman Award by GUBA Enterprise, a social enterprise organisation dedicated to the advancement of Africans on the continent and the diaspora.
